Cool and Dark

The inside of the house was dark. Although there was electricity, which ran a TV and a newly arrived regfridgerator, there was very little light in the home.

Our room, off to the left, had no windows, no lights, and one door.

The kids would watch quite a bit of television, in Thai. I found it strange to see the Mien children growing up learning Thai and watching shows that pictured a life very different from their own.
