Old Friends
Kathy, who has been coming to this village since the
1970's, is considered one of the elders of the village.
Her visit to the village is a celebration. She introduced
me to her Nepali family. As her brother, I was treated
like royalty, being fed and watered at each stop. Here
we visited one of the Suryaman's "classificatory" sisters.
You'll have to ask anthropologist sister Kathy what that means...
All I know is that I was accepted as part of the family,
and I accepted my responsibility, through Kathy, to
be part of Mhanegang, not an easy commitment.
