Bricks were the primary construction material being
used to build new homes in Kathmandu. The homes
were quite large, perhaps for a whole clan. Three and
four story homes were not uncomon; large even by U.S.
standards. All built out of brick...
I tried to estimate how many bricks are laid per day in
Kathmandu valley, but came up with a number so large,
it baffled my imagination as to how the bricks were
made and transported to supply the huge demand. I
wonder how many bricks ARE laid in the valley every
day...
