Dragonfly
Speeding up and down the river, making a great deal of
noise, and spewing out exhaust, are these "dragonfly"
boats. They travel at very high speeds, darting around
from dock to dock, carrying passengers who are in a
hurry and don't mind paying the extra money for the
fast ride.
I was told that the engines (which you can see perched
on top of the "rudder") are 8-cylinder car engines! The
drive-train connects directly to a propeller, which sits in
the water. The boat is steered by pivoting the entire
engine, drive-train, and propeller. It's a hot, heavy,
noisy job!
