Mural
Inside the Chedi, the walls were covered with murals
depicting the history of the sight. The murals tell stories
that are woven into the fabric of Thai culture.
While I was in Thailand, I went to see the new film
called "The Legend of
King Naresuan", a docu-drama
about King Naresuan the Great, who ruled from 1590 to
1605.
There are many important stories that are legendary
events from King Naresuan's life which seem to
represent many of the values held by Thais, today.
But the most remarkable part of watching the film in
Ayutthaya was the inhabitants' evident pride that
Ayutthaya became the capital and center of their
country, freed from Burmese rule, under Naresuan.
