Because there wasn't enough room in the cab of the truck to carry the women, children, Jordan and me, the Lao women were going to ride in the bed of the truck.

Jordan and I insisted that they ride in the nice, soft, air-conditioned cab while he and I sat in the hard, metal, hot, dusty bed of the truck.
