St. Peter's Church, Riga
To get to Poland by land, avoiding Belarus, I took a
train from Moscow, through the Baltic states of
Estonia and Latvia. In Moscow, I was told there
were no trains from Riga to Warsaw, but I didn't
believe it; until I got to Riga and found that there
was a train, but it didn't run on weekends.
So I switched to bus, which left late in the evening
for an overnight trip through Lithuania to Warsaw,
Poland. I spent the day walking around the
marketplace (which was close to the station), but
wasn't that impressed with the city. I got lunch in a
basement cafeteria.
I saw in Internet caf, so I decided to look up Riga. I
found out that I was about 10 blocks away from the
old, historic, center of Riga.
